Broken Links Tab

The Broken Links tab is designed to give you a complete overview of the links that have been either captured by the system or manually added by the admin. This tab also displays the Page Redirect Links (working link redirects) set by the admin in the Page Redirects tab.

Key Information Displayed:

  • Broken Links: Lists all broken or non-working links detected on your website.
  • Redirect Link: Displays the URL where the broken link is being redirected, either automatically set by the system or manually entered by the admin.
  • Redirect Status Code: Shows the type of redirect (301 for permanent, 302 or 307 for temporary).
  • Hit Count: The number of times a user has hit (accessed) the broken link.
  • Redirect Count: The number of times the broken link has been successfully redirected.
  • Referrer Details: Information about how the user arrived at the broken link, including:
    • Referrer URL (where the user came from)
    • User Agent (the browser or bot used)
    • IP Address (the IP of the user or bot)
    • Date & Time (when the hit occurred)
  • First and Last Hit: The date and time of each broken link’s first and most recent hits.

Setting Redirect Links:

In this tab, you can manually set redirect links for broken URLs:

  • Enter the redirect URL directly into the field provided.
  • The extension will auto-save the redirect URL as soon as it is entered. There is no need to click the main Save button to save the redirection settings.

This feature ensures that any broken links are promptly addressed, preventing 404 errors and improving the user experience by ensuring visitors are redirected to relevant, working pages.

Manually Adding Links:

To add new redirects for working links, follow these steps:

  1. Click the ADD Links button at the top of the page. This will open a form.
  2. In the form, you will need to provide:
    • Broken Link / Working URL: The original URL that needs to be redirected.
    • Redirect URL: The destination URL where you want the working link to redirect.
    • Redirect Response Code: Select the response code (e.g., 301 for permanent, 302 for temporary).
    • Redirect Type: Set the redirect type to Broken Link Redirect (404 Redirect) / General Redirect (200 Redirect).
